Preschool Complete & Kindergarten, Here We Come!
Congrats to Alan! 🎉

Alan officially finished The Good and the Beautiful Preschool curriculum, and he is moving on to Kindergarten! Just look at his face, he is so proud of himself. And honestly, we are beyond proud of him and all the hard work he put in.
When we first decided to pull the kids from school and start homeschooling, Alan only knew three letters. I remember feeling nervous and questioning if I was making the right choice. Fast forward to now, and Alan knows all of his letters and their sounds, and he can recognize them in both uppercase and lowercase. Seeing that growth has been incredibly rewarding and reassuring as a homeschool mom.
That doesn’t mean it was always easy.
We definitely had some frustrating days. Days where lessons didn’t go as planned and I questioned if I was doing the right thing. Over time, I realized that Alan doesn’t learn best by sitting down for hours at a time. He learns better when he is moving, active, and engaged. Once I stopped trying to force a traditional sit-down school style and leaned into what worked best for him, everything started to click.
Finishing preschool is such a big milestone for us. Watching Alan grow in confidence, build his skills, and realize that he can learn has been one of my favorite parts of this homeschool journey.
Now that Alan has completed this curriculum, I started shopping around to see what was out there for kindergarten.
We absolutely loved The Good and the Beautiful. It was a great introduction to homeschooling and truly helped us get started on the right foot. I also plan to have Santi use this preschool curriculum next. I loved the open-and-go style, how affordable it is, and how gentle yet effective it was for early learning.
That said, I also felt ready to try something new.
For Alan’s kindergarten year, I decided to go with Christian Light Education – Kindergarten 1. I ordered the Kinder 1 workbooks, the teacher’s guide, and the ABC Readiness series. I’m excited to see how this curriculum works for us and how Alan responds to it.
One of my favorite parts about homeschooling is the freedom to choose what works best for each child. What works for one season, or one kid might change, and that’s okay. We are learning as we go, and I love that we get to customize our homeschool to fit our kids instead of forcing them to fit into a box.
I also want to take a moment to say thank you to my family and friends who supported us during this transitional period from traditional school to homeschooling. On the days I felt like giving up, you reminded me that I was doing a good job and that I could do this. You helped reassure me that no one knows how my kids learn better than I do.
The amount of time we’ve gained back with our kids has been truly amazing, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
A special shout-out to my TÃa Eli. You always have the best advice, thoughtful recommendations, and the most uplifting pep talks right when I need them. Your support means more than you know.
I also can’t forget to shout out my friend Samantha from Dreams of Grace and Grit. She helped me fill out our declaration of intent and was right there with me when I submitted the forms. It was such a nerve-wracking moment, and I was so nervous, but she was there to support me every step of the way. She also helped with placement testing and answered so many of my questions.
Here’s to new beginnings, big milestones, and a very proud kindergarten kid 💛
