Thanksgiving Books We are Reading This Holiday

This year is extra special for our family! it’s our first Thanksgiving season as a homeschooling family! I’ve been so excited (and a little nervous) to make sure learning stays fun and meaningful during the holidays. I want our boys to enjoy the magic of the season while still learning about gratitude, history, and traditions.
To help make our lessons more festive, I told the boys they could each help pick out some books for our Thanksgiving lessons. They were so excited.

🦃 A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving — This one is such a classic! It’s lighthearted and fun, but it also teaches kindness, friendship, and what the holiday is really about — being thankful for the people around us (even if dinner doesn’t go as planned).

🏡 Magic Tree House: Thanksgiving on Thursday — This book takes us back in time to the very first Thanksgiving with Jack and Annie. It’s a great way to introduce early American history and the story of the Pilgrims and Native Americans in a way that’s easy for kids to understand.

🎅🦃 Turkey vs. Santa — This one adds a little humor to our reading list! It’s perfect for that time right between Thanksgiving and Christmas, when the kids are already talking about Santa. The story is silly, but it also opens up fun conversations about sharing the spotlight and working together.

Homeschooling during the holidays is something I’ve looked forward to for a long time. I love that we can slow down, learn together, and make memories that go beyond worksheets. This season, I’m thankful for the chance to teach, learn, and laugh right alongside my kids.
